Innovation Spotlight: espiku’s Latest

Milestones & Momentum

Upcoming

February 2026: Leading the Dialogue at the 36th Annual Produced Water Society Conference

Dr. Mahyar Abedi represented Espiku at the 36th Annual Produced Water Society Conference in Sugar Land, Texas. As a premier gathering for O&G water professionals, the conference provided a platform to showcase how Scepter’s membrane-free thermal process creates "DLE-ready" brine feedstock while producing high-purity water for reuse.

January 2026: Graduation from Halliburton Labs & CEO Retreat

Espiku reached a major commercial milestone by officially completing the intensive Halliburton Labs accelerator program. To mark the transition from an innovator to a field-ready partner, CEO Bahman Abbasi participated in the exclusive Halliburton Labs CEO Retreat, engaging with global energy executives on the industrial scaling of Scepter.

March 2026: Breakthrough Energy Pavilion at CERAWeek

During CERAWeek in Houston, Bahman Abbasi was featured at the Breakthrough Energy (BE) pavilion. Representing the elite cohort of companies funded by Bill Gates’ investment firm, Bahman detailed how Espiku’s technology serves as the essential "middle mile," handling the heavy lifting of brine concentration so that DLE partners can economically recover lithium and other critical minerals.

Past

May 2026: Scaling Industrial Solutions at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC)

To close out a high-impact spring, Bahman Abbasi will participate in the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston. As the largest energy event in the U.S., OTC serves as the launchpad for Espiku’s "plug-and-play" modular systems, designed to help operators turn wastewater liabilities into strategic mineral assets.

April 2026: Strategic Public-Private Partnerships at the ARPA-E Summit

Selected as one of only ten ARPA-E project teams, Espiku will participate in an exclusive Commercialization Roundtable at the 2026 Energy Innovation Summit in San Diego. This invitation-only session unites public and private stakeholders, manufacturing networks, and investors to streamline the scaling of "ready-to-market" American energy technologies. By engaging directly with federal agencies and industry leaders, we are accelerating the deployment of our Scepter technology to secure domestic water and mineral supply chains.

The “White Gold” of Wastewater

March 26, 2026 | by Saskia van Meer

To make mineral extraction from brine truly viable, the industry must solve the "low-concentration trap" that currently plagues DLE economics. That’s where pre-concentration technology comes in and how the energy sector can transition from a multi-billion-dollar disposal headache to a circular "waste-to-value" model.

espiku 2024: A Milestone a Minute

Jan 31, 2025 | by Saskia van Meer

In 2024 we partnered with Halliburton Labs and Breakthrough Energy, built and showcased our pilot units, and grew our team. In 2025, espiku is poised for field testing and customer relations, championing its mission to revolutionize the extractive industry.

Like Oil on Troubled Waters: The Future of Water Treatment

February 3, 2025 | by Bahman Abbasi

The oil and gas industry is thirsty, but where there's oil, water is often scarce. Espiku's innovative produced water treatment technology is poised to change that, turning a waste product into a valuable resource.

The Escalating Cost of Water Management

June 24, 2025 | by Erin Webber

The next major shift in oilfield strategy won’t be driven by new drilling techniques or pricing forecasts. It will be shaped by how we manage what comes back up with the oil. Amid this volatility, the oil and gas industry faces an inconvenient and unavoidable truth: water is not just a logistical nuisance; it's a rising operational cost center, a strategic risk, and a potentially transformative opportunity.
